Decarbonisation Talks, vol.1

Investment and technologies to replace

coal generation

The power system of Ukraine generates about a third of electricity by the coal-fired plants. All coal generating capacity is old and causes harm to the environment. The dependence on coal blocks in balancing the Integrated Power System of Ukraine and the commitment to implement the National plan of emission reduction by 2033 present an obvious controversy.

So – to modernize, decommission or find another solution to replace coal-fired plants? What are the views and plans of market players and scientists? What energy generation and storage technologies can replace coal in the power system?
